The Blessed "Happy" Man pt 5
Let's continue our study of the blessed, happy man! notice if you will verse 3.

Notice our text verse for today, verse 3: And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
This is speaking about the blessed, happy man. The Psalmist David wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that this blessed man would be like a tree planted by the rivers of water.
It's amazing how God likens us to trees. In the New Testament Jesus referred us to this in John 15 when he spoke of the vine and the branches. Unless we are connected to the vine, we cannot bear fruit. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us the fruit of the spirit. Notice what the fruit of the Spirit as in verse 22 states: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (23) Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
If we are described as trees, we must bear fruit on our tree. So many are showing their fruit today by the way they live their life. They say a tree that is planted by the river or a lake or a stream often is one of the strongest trees. The reason for that is this: The tree gets the water that it needs and also the sunlight that it needs. Notice this if you will Psalm 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Notice that first part: for the LORD God is a sun.... If the Lord God is the sun, I believe he can give what we need to grow and be productive in our tree. Trees are strong next to the water and in order for us to be strong we must be in the Word of God so we can be strong and bear fruit, why is that? Because John 15:8 states: Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
If you want to glorify the Father, you must bear much fruit and how do you do this? You get the nutrients that you need, sunlight and water!!!!
Notice ,if you will, the next part of the blessed happy man. Not only does it say he will be a tree planted by the rivers of water but it also states: ...that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;...
Seasons come and go but the tree does not. We have trees in our front yard that have been there for years. In fact, there is a tree where i used to park my car that has a skateboard in the bottom of it where my brother stuck it in there years ago and that tree is still standing. The Seasons come and go but the tree must remain faithful. Your season of bearing fruit may be here right now but you may end up in a dry spell. That is the time to allow the Lord to prune and purge you so you can bear forth more fruit for his honor and his glory. Just because you are not in the season of bearing fruit doesn't mean you do not need the sunshine and water. You do still need both my friend!!!!
The person that gets away from the nutrients he or she needs to stay alive spiritually will end up dying for lack of nutrients. If you do not believe me, try this: do not eat another bite of food for the next two weeks and I will guarantee you that you will be malnourished and need something, or you will die. Same thing goes for a Christian that is not properly getting the nutrients they need Spiritually; they find themselves starving spiritually and end up dying for lack of food that they need.
Notice the next phrase:....his leaf also shall not wither;...
No matter if you are in season or out of season if you are planted by the rivers of water you will still have leaves that won't go bad. The purging stages are the hardest sometimes because we do not like getting cut on or cut back. Friend, remember that the Father is only doing this so you can bear much fruit, The leaf will not fade on the blessed, happy, man if he is planted by the rivers of water. Even if it is out of season at least you have leaves on your tree.
Notice the last phrase: ...and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
How can this be said of the blessed man? How can whatever he do prosper?
The answer is quite simple. Verse 1 tells us he has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, secondly, he has not stood in the way of sinners, and thirdly, he has not sat in the seat of the scornful, and last but not least, his delight is in the law of the Lord.
When you start with God the blessings will come after. Are there going to be days where you don't feel like listening to Godly counsel? Absolutely! Are there going to be days where you stand in the way of sinners? Yes, but the good news is God's mercy can help you. Have you found yourself in the seat of the scornful some days? Yes, haven't we all? Even though we have had these things in our life doesn't mean we can stay there. With the help of the Lord we can be a blessed, happy, man, or woman.
Psalm 1:1-6 KJV
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. [2] But his delight is in the law of the Lord ; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. [3] And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. [4] The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. [5] Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. [6] For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
