Our Fire-starter comes from Job 5. Our Fire-starter thought is the joy of being punished. 

No one likes punishment but with punishment comes love.

 The Bible tells us here in Job 5:17 KJV

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

We can be happy when God corrects us. 

I want to remind us this morning the chastisement that comes as his children is a reminder that we are his children. 

Punishment comes in different ways. Sometimes Christ takes us behind the woodshed spiritually and whoops us and then there are times when Christ takes things away from us to punish us. 

We are living in a day of bitterness and anger why? Because there is no punishment from parents when their child does wrong. Kids today think they can get by with anything and everything. 

That's why we are seeing children in juvenile prisons and facing jail time by the time they are adults simply because punishment did not happen when they were little so now they think they can get by with it. 

Happy is the man whom God correcteth....

Why can we be happy? You say the punishment hurts. Yes the punishment does hurt but I am glad that he punishes me when I do wrong. Why? Because he reminds me I am his child. 

You do not go around punishing other people's children although you may want to at certain times but you can't you know why? They are not your children, they are not your responsibility. 

Friend be glad for the Chastening of the Lord. Because the Word of God tells us 

Proverbs 3:12 KJV

For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Hebrews 12:6 KJV

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
