The Great Old Testament Passage Pointing To Jesus Pt. 9

Justin Baker • February 17, 2023

Psalm 2 as we have already stated is a Messianic Psalm which means it points to the Lord Jesus Christ. We will notice verse 9 today.

[9] Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

There is a day coming when Christ will rule and reign on this earth as King. Many have denied it, many have tried their best to ignore it, but the truth is it will happen one day.

The thought here is that Christ will be victorious then, but let's not forget He is victorious now. May we remember that we as the children of the King are victorious as well.

How will the Great KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS reign? According to this verse he will rule with a rod of iron. Man has never seen a peaceful yet judgmental time. What I mean is they have never seen peace but has fear and dread in their heart knowing that the One they tried to dethrone has conquered them.

For the child of God we have nothing to worry about because as the Scripture states we shall rule and reign with Him. The kings on the throne are no match for the way that our God shall reign that day. It will be a day of peace and also of sadness. Why is that? Men and kingdoms will find themselves under the rule of the One they rejected. It will be a peaceful time but bear in mind it will be a sad time for many. A thousand years our Savior will rule and reign on this earth and for a thousand years there will be judgment that is fair, wickedness will be dealt with and things will continue to go on but Christ will rule with righteousness and power.

The kings of the earth and the nations will be one day astonished at Christ ruling and reigning. They will be broken vessels, they will be humbled but not because they have won but because He has won.

May I remind us today that the enemy has already been defeated. We can lift up our heads and rejoice knowing that the Lord has everything under control. May we go in the strength of that each and every day knowing that Christ is in control now and He will be in control then. Hallelujah!

Psalm 2:1-12 KJV Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? [2] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, [3] Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. [4] He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. [5] Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. [6] Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. [7] I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. [8] Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. [9] Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. [10] Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth [11] Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. [12] Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
