The Great Old Testament Passage Pointing To Jesus Pt.8
Even though we have already stated what's in this chapter we must not fail to mention how important it is to see the Savior uplifted. This chapter is all about Him.
Notice verse 8: Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
God the Father's will is to give everything to His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ and He invites Him to ask God the Father for the inheritance and the possession.
There is a simple truth here yet so profound and that is God the Father wanted God the Son to do what we as His children need to do and that is ask. We quote the verse Ask and it shall be given unto you, yet we live like we just have to ask and not believe but Matthew 21:22 states that we must believe as well in order to receive. The problem with most Christians is we are like parents and we treat Christ like He is our child, He is not. Let me just state right here you ain't the parent when it comes to your prayer life, things don't happen immediately. I'm sorry God is not your youngin' that you can tell immediately to do something and they do it. You are the child not Him.
Just like the children should not run the home so should the child of God not run the prayer life. God the Father told God the Son to ask and He would give Him. God invites us and tells us that He will do things only if we will ask believing. A child comes to a parent asking for a cookie not because they believe the parent will say yes. Same thing goes for the child of God, we must go to God the Father with an attitude of yes not no. If God the Father has already said ask then we must simply do what He has said.
Notice Isaiah 53:12: Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Let's be mindful this morning that God wants to give us things but we must simply ask for them believing. Without believing we will never receive.
Psalm 2:1-12 KJV Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? [2] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, [3] Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. [4] He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. [5] Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure [6] Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. [7] I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. [8] Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. [9] Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. [10] Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. [11] Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. [12] Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
