The Great Old Testament Passage Pointing To Jesus Pt. 12
What a wonderful Psalm this has been to study. The greatest study we could ever do is on the precious Son of God. His birth, life, death, and resurrection brings hope to many but I am thankful He is coming again one day to take His children home. Let's look at the final verse to this chapter.
Notice verse 12: Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Submission is a hard thing to do sometimes, but the word kiss has a thought of submission. Jesus Christ as we know will rule and reign for a thousand years, and with the thousand year reign comes judgment. Can I make note right here that the judgment that Christ will give will be that of righteousness and not like we see each and every day simply because we have unrighteous people that are sitting on the throne of judgment.
The King of Heaven calls for submission from the kings of the earth. Please note that this call is not only for them later but for us now. Submission is something that we must consider daily.
Submission is very important today but will also be later. The Bible states in James 4:7 that we should submit ourselves to God and in return we can resist the Devil and He will flee from you. I am often reminded of Galatians 5 where the verses are mentioned about the flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit lusteth against the flesh. These two are contrary to each other.
Every man has one master in his life, either the Lord or Satan. Psalm 2:12 is speaking of the time when Christ will rule and reign here on earth but in regards to us today we must submit to Him.
If the kings of the earth do not submit to Him then Christ will be angry with them, not because He is a bad King or a mean King because they have disobeyed Him as King.
In today's view we must submit to Him as King because He is higher than us, His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are greater than our thoughts. We must submit to Him because submission is key for blessings that will come.
May God help us submit to His leading and guiding in our life. When we submit we may not think it to be the greatest and grandest thing out there but there is blessing in submission.
Psalm 2:1-12 KJV
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? [2] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, [3] Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. [4] He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. [5] Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. [6] Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. [7] I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. [8] Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. [9] Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. [10] Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. [11] Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. [12] Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
