Paul's letter to today's church part 3

What if the apostle Paul wrote a letter to today's church? Would it possibly read as follows?

"Dear church of _____,

I wrote to Timothy in my second letter what we are experiencing now. I never dreamed of a church closing because the government said to close or have live stream for the convenience of not getting a virus. Sickness is a big deal but may I remind you that we serve a greater God than any sickness. I was beat and left for half dead but, my God was greater than that. If you could let COVID be an excuse what more would you allow for an excuse to not be at the house of God.

Every day it seemed like the Pharisees didn't like what we were doing, also you have to remember I was a Pharisee. Do you remember Stephen? I was the one that held the coats of those men that stoned him.

If I could be faithful at that, shouldn't I need to be more faithful to the great God that saved me and called me?

As I have my messengers telling me about the churches that used to thrive. It's obvious that they do not want to grow but rather die. It's like the church doesn't care anymore.

It's sad when I hear from my messengers that they are having movie night just to get people to church or have singing and charging people for the singing. It was a blessing for me and Silas to sing praises unto our God in jail but we ministered to the jailor as a result. Unless your singing moves chains and opens doors to jails don't think for one second that it will move the heart.

Does your music in the church move your hand and foot rather than moving your heart?

See the songs moved the heart of God so much that He moved the chains and the bars that had us bound. Sadly your music in the church today has no theological meaning to it. You sing vain repetitive words thinking that God will be pleased with you saying the same thing. I remember the Apostle Matthew saying in his gospel record that when we pray don't use vain repetitions I wonder if we could apply that to music?

I am aware of modern, so-called, Christian music. The Psalms were just fine. Why did you change? Was it to bring in another generation? Was it to spend 35 minutes saying the same words and then have a message that is uplifting? Have we stopped preaching Jesus Christ crucified? I am bothered by the lack of backbone in our pulpits. Just the other day a messenger told me they quit saying sin and Hell in the church. They call it doing bad, but they won't tell what sin is. They won't call adultery a sin, homosexuality a sin, shacking up in a house together unmarried a sin. We just need to love them to Jesus is all they say. I totally understand that we ought to love them as Christ loved them but you and I ought to love them enough to call sin out!!!

Church, I ask you please quit being content as long as they are not bothering you because one day it will bother you and them. You at the judgment seat of Christ, them at the great White throne Judgment.

Church, I call you to repent and get right with God.

         Salute the brethren,

                           Paul "

In the previous chapter, we learned how they wanted to make a name for themselves, but here we will learn that God will make your name greater.
