What Happened On The Mountian
Abraham and Isaac and the ram are great pictures of God the Father, us, and our Savior. Jesus was lifted up on Mount Calvary.
Genesis 22:2 KJV
And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
We all know the story of Abraham being asked of God to go up to mount Moriah and offer up Isaac there as a sacrifice.
Abraham is a picture of God the Father in this passage as he is willing to give his only Son to die. (John 3:16) The ram is a picture of Jesus because he took our place on the cross (John 1:29) and Isaac is a picture of us because we were the ones to be punished for our sin and then God made a way for us (Romans 6:23)
Jesus walked up mount Calvary in your stead and mine to save us.
Friend, we deserved to be on the cross, we deserve Hell and all its torments but God loved you enough to die for you.
See Isaac should have died that day but the ram was offered instead of Isaac. The ram took Isaac's place; the LAMB took my place.
I watched a video of a pilot who was supposed to be flying on 9/11/2001 when the highjack happened and many lives were lost.
This gentleman tells of how the another pilot who was senior to him took his spot and bumped him off the schedule. Someone took his place and as a result died.
This man tells how Jesus took his place on mount Calvary.
I encourage you to watch the video. Here is the YouTube link:

Friend, remember Jesus took your punishment so you wouldn't have to.
What happened on the mount? The ram took Isaac's spot. What happened on Mount Calvary? The LAMB, Jesus Christ, took your place and my place. May we praise the Lamb forever.
If you are not saved trust in Christ. He has already paid your sin debt. Call on Christ and ask Him to save you.
If you are a Christian, please send this short devotional to someone who may be lost. Rejoice that Christ has taken your place but also encourage others to trust Jesus.
