Paul's letter to today's church part 2

What if the apostle Paul wrote a letter to today's church? Would it possibly read as follows?

"Dear Church of _______,

I remember when you first started and how you have grown to what you have become now. The only issue with growth is pride sometimes gets in the way. You have become like the church of the Laodiceans. You have big buildings, a big budget, and meet and greet and preach and go home but the message has not changed you.

While Jesus is knocking on the door of His house, he can not enter in because of the lukewarmness, and the pridefulness, and the self exaltation in the church.

While many look at the churches that run a thousand, I look at the church that has a great God. You may write me a letter back stating that you trust in God, but may I ask you what god are you really trusting in? I remember telling the philippian church that I know how to abound and how to be abased Philippians 4:10 but sadly, the church of today knows only how to abound, they know nothing on how to be abased.

Dear pastor I would like to take a moment and speak to you. Jesus told his apostles when he sent them out that he would provide for their needs. Sadly in this day and hour we want God to provide for our greeds plus our needs.

You may say, it's not fair that we have to only receive 50,000 dollars while the church down the road pays 120,000 dollars. Have you thought maybe God wants you to learn how to be abased?

Remember church I am in prison, I don't get the luxuries of having a nice 75 inch screen tv in my room, AC and heat, pantry full of food but yet God provides for me. I never got the million dollar jackpot church but I did get something worth more than a million dollars. I got the gospel presented unto me and i now present it to others. I also got the great command to write to the church and remind them to stay the course and keep on for our great God and king, the Lord Jesus Christ.

While we have people within the church arguing over the pastors salary we have disciples not worrying as much as a penny coming into their hands because they knew as I stated in Acts 20:35 it is more blessed to give than to receive.

I know, you want to give after you receive but remember when I gave encouragement to the church at Philippi how they took care of me and provided for my needs that God would take care of their needs? He does exactly what he promises. He has never failed neither will he fail Hebrews 13:8 states that he is the same.

Church may I remind you that while you are having your pride session of church Jesus is knocking. While you applaud your singers Jesus is knocking, while you are too busy praising your deeds for the week Jesus is knocking. Sadly, you are too busy to hear the knock and therefore will not open the door for him to have Fellowship with you.

I, Paul, want to see the church flourishing not fleeing from the task that is at hand. Has the preaching of the Word of God become of none effect to you? Have you left the house of God not concerned about your fellow man? I say as my fellow laborer John said, if you can't love your brother whom ye have seen how can you love God whom ye have not seen?

Some of you never came from the lifestyle of sin and it shows in your holier than thou attitude. See, if you only had been where I have been and what I have been and how God has saved me and changed me and made me a new creature and given me a new life you would understand how great the importance of getting the gospel out.

I am not minimizing your Salvation testimony but I am saying that it is hard for someone that has been saved out of the lifestyle of sin and see the church trying to go to the lifestyle of sin.

As I stated in my last letter what brother James said, "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not to him it is sin." Church, this bothers me that we don't see sin like we should. I remember reading as I studied the old testament that it read that every man does right in his own eyes. What a shame that the church has left the Bible for bibs, covenant for convenience, the pastor for preachers.

We are making the platform a dance floor, the choir loft a show room, the main offices a business. God help us in the state the church is in. I never would have thought to receive this type of news in my jail cell. "
