What Will You Do With Your Appointed Time?
If you walk through a cemetery you will find a tombstone that reads such and such date to such and such date. This is the appointed time.
Our Fire-starter comes from Job 7. Our Fire-starter thought is what will you do with your appointed time?
This appointment has been set and we do not know when that time will be. The thing about not knowing the time is that we must realize we must live each day as it is our last day. Please notice the first verse of Job 7 as our text.
Job 7:1 KJV
Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?
Let me ask you this morning, do you believe you have an appointment with death? Would you agree that you don't know when that will be? Would you agree that we must do our very best to live right?
James 4:14 says that our life is but a vapor Proverbs 27 tells us that we do not know what a day may bring. With that being said, if we truly live today as If it were our last we would do things different all the time.
I must confess that I do not live the day like it is my last and I am sure you can say the same thing.
What to do with your day.
1. Stay right with God and others
You can't be right with God if you are not right with others
2. Stay clean from sin
Confess your sins to the God of Heaven.
Stay clean all the time. When you sin, confess it and forsake it and move on
3. Stay in the Word of God
Psalm 119:11 explains that sin will keep you away from the Bible or the Bible will keep you away from sin
4. Stay connected with God in prayer
Hebrews 4:16 tells us as his children we can come boldly to the throne
Always remember that the things we do the words we say and the thoughts we think will be held accountable one day. Because we will give an account for everything.
Hebrews 9:27 tells us we have an appointment. Today could be it
A thought to think about in closing,
what If this were your last day
What if this were your last day
And you met Christ face to face
With the deeds you've done in the race
What if this were your last day
What If this were your last day
Would he be pleased at the gate
Would he be disappointed at your race
What if this were your last day
What if this were your last day
Do you have sins that need forgiving
Do you have friendships that need mending
What if this were your last day
On your last day here on earth
Would your friends and family know about the new birth
Would they know the old or new man
Would they know about Christ and his plan
Something to think about. Live each day as if it were your last.
Hope you have a great day!
Job 7:1-21 KJV
Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling? [2] As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work: [3] So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me. [4] When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day. [5] My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome. [6] My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without hope. [7] O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good. [8] The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more : thine eyes are upon me, and I am not. [9] As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. [10] He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more. [11] Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. [12] Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me? [13] When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaint; [14] Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions: [15] So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life. [16] I loathe it ; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity. [17] What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him? [18] And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment? [19] How long wilt thou not depart from me, nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle? [20] I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself? [21] And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.
