What Can The Enemy Say About The Lord Looking At Your Life? Pt. 2

Justin Baker • February 27, 2023

Psalm 3 was written during the time of the rebellion of Absalom. Absalom was trying to no avail to take over the throne of David. Let's look at verse 3 today.

David now dwells on who the Lord is. We know from 2 Samuel 12 that David's sin gave great occasion for the enemies of God to blaspheme but David himself knew the Lord like he should.

While others may get a different picture of who the Lord is we must have a solid foundation in our own lives of who the Lord is.

Notice our text:

Psalm 3:3 KJV

But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

While there were those that saw the Lord differently David saw the Lord as He is. In the world's eyes the Lord is not who we say He is, simply because they are not His.

David understood that the Lord is a shield, his glory, and the lifter up of his head. To the world the Lord is none of those things to them, why? Because they are of the world and not of Christ.

Please understand it does rain on the just and on the unjust but Christ is not going to be a shield for them against the enemy because they are on the side of the enemy. Christ is not their glory because they glory in themselves. When they are down and discouraged Christ is not what lifts up their head but the newest car, more money, and ect.

From the world's view point Christ is not who we describe He to be, because they are on the outside looking in. If they could look from the inside looking out they would find a much different attitude about our Savior.

Application to today's Fire-starter is this: recognize who God is and when you recognize who He is show others of who He is.

What are some ways you can show the things that Christ is to you? Are you giving off a bad testimony of our Savior?

Are you showing others who the Savior is?

Psalm 3:1-8 KJV

Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. [2] Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. [3] But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. [4] I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. [5] I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me. [6] I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. [7] Arise, O Lord ; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. [8] Salvation belongeth unto the Lord : thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
