Think On These Things
I was talking to a preacher about a situation that happened a while back, and he said this, think on the positive things, not the negative, and you will be happier about the whole situation. Today's Fire-starter thought comes from that.
We tend to look at the negative things of this life. When someone hurts us, we tend to dwell and dwell on that, or when things don't go our way, we make negative remarks. Phil. 4:8 exhorts us to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report.
We tend to think about the falseness in a conversation or in a person, or how someone has been dishonest, or what they have not done right or how they have uncleanness in their life and alot of times we don't even look at the lovely or good report.
Sadly, among the brethren, we like to bring the bad report of someone up or say dishonest things, and those things must be forgiven.
A while back, I heard a preacher say something about another preacher, and I thought I thought that was not true, and then he called me later that week and apologized for what he said, and then said, I mended that relationship with that brother.
Many people dwell on hearsay instead of knowing it from the mouth of that person.
During chapel, I had the young people play telephone. Now, before you bash me for having ths children play games during chapel, you must know it was a lesson to be learned. I wrote a phrase down, and each person told the phrase to each other. By the time it got to the last person, the phrase was totally different.
When we do not think on things from Phil. 4:8 we can totally miss out on the positive by looking at the negative.
Your Fire-starter challenge today is to think on these things.
