The Great Old Testament Passage Pointing To Jesus pt.6
One thing is for sure and that is who God sets up on the throne cannot be put down till He says so and let me let you in on a secret His Son is not coming off the throne!!!!
Notice Psalm 2:6: Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
It is amazing to note that the very One that man has tried to dethrone is still on the throne. No matter how hard man or kingdoms try they will never be able to dethrone the One that is on the throne.
What does Christ on the throne have anything to do with man or kingdoms? The truth is man and kingdom has never liked Christ being on the throne nor will they ever because most men and kingdoms are against the God of Heaven. If you will notice the verses two through four it will clear up the fact that man and kingdom have always wanted to dethrone Christ.
Doesn't matter what man wants, it's what God has already established. Man wants his way, his ideas, his philosophy, and his doings to be proclaimed and expressed in many ways. That is why you will see men trying to promote homosexuality, atheism, evolution, and many such things. They have always tried to dethrone Christ but will never make it that way. We know from Philippians 2 that every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. He has the name KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS for a reason and that reason is because that is who He is.
Many while trying to dethrone Christ turn others away from seeing Christ on the throne.
What are some characteristics of His throne? Look at Hebrews 4:16: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
a) It's a throne that is approachable
b.) It's a throne of grace
c.) It's a throne of help
Every throne man has designed is a throne that can only be approachable if and only if you would be allowed in. I am glad to know that the throne is always approachable and it is full of grace, mercy and help.
There is but one thing that hinders us from coming to His throne and that is sin.
Psalm 66:18 states: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me :
When we have sin in our life we must approach Him with true repentance. "Without confession there is no restoration." We must go to God with a humble heart and a confessing mouth in order to get cleansed.
1 John 1:9 KJV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Psalm 2:1-12 KJV Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? [2] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, [3] Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. [4] He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. [5] Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. [6] Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. [7] I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. [8] Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. [9] Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. [10] Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. [11] Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. [12] Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
