Salvation Belongeth Unto The Lord!

Justin Baker • March 9, 2023

We have studied the first seven verses, let's study the final verse in this chapter. Please pray that God will speak to your heart.

Let's notice our text: Psalm 3:8 KJV

Salvation belongeth unto the Lord : thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Salvation: deliverance, to be set free, to rescue

David understood there were battles that he faced could only be won by the God of Heaven. David also understood that he is weak and the Lord is strong.

Paul understood this as well, notice the verse: 2 Corinthians 12:10 KJV

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

David was weak before Goliath, Saul, Absalom, and many others yet his strength was from the Lord. Salvation belongeth unto the Lord!!!!

David had to realize who he was and who God is, we must remember this too. See the flesh is weak and without Christ we cannot conquer it. Christ makes us weak so we can always rely on Him. There is not a man or woman, boy or girl that doesn't battle the flesh, we all battle it, but thanks be to God that can help us overcome the flesh.

Notice the next phrase: Psalm 3:8 ...thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

The blessing comes when we trust in God. As long as the leaders and people are trusting in the Lord the blessing will be upon the people. During this time David was King and as long as he trusted in the Lord the nation was blessed. Have you noticed that when leadership goes away from God the whole nation suffers? Many kings have done what was wrong and the nation was judged for it. Look back through the book of 1 and 2 Kings and you will find when the good kings did right God blessed and when the bad kings did wrong God judged.

Application to today's Fire-starter: We indeed are weak without Christ, but He is our strength and shield. During the trying times remember to stay close to the Lord.

A Call to Action: Don't become prideful and take the credit for the result of the battle, but rather give the thanks to God because He is the one that won the battle for you. Put your trust in God to see the blessings come your way. It may not be material things, but you will have all you need.

Hymn for today is: Singing I go.

1 The trusting heart to Jesus clings,
Nor any ill forbodes,
But at the cross of Calv'ry sings,
Praise God for lifted loads!

Refrain:
Singing, I go along life's road,
Praising the Lord, praising the Lord;
Singing, I go along life's road,
For Jesus has lifted my load.

2 The passing days bring many cares,

"Fear not," I hear Him say,
And when my fears are turned to pray'rs,
The burdens slip away. [Refrain]

3 He tells me of my Father's love
And never slumb'ring eye;
My everlasting King above
Will all my needs supply. [Refrain]

4 When to the throne of grace I flee,
I find the promise true,
The mighty arms upholding me
Will bear my burdens too. [Refrain]
