People That Never Said Thank You
I am reminded what 2 Timothy 3 tells us that in the last days people would be unthankful. We are living in an unthankful generation.
There are several people I would like us to consider when we deal with people that were ungrateful.
The first one is the high priest that Peter cut his ear off.
Luke 22:49-54 KJV
When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? [50] And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. [51] And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. [52] Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? [53] When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. [54] Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.
Can you imagine not being thankful for one moment because of business that you are attending to?
So many times we get so involved in our daily work and even public life that we forget to be thankful.
Yes, I understand that we get busy but the problem is not the business the problem is our ingratitude.
So business stand in the way of us being thankful sometimes.
Luke 17:12-19 KJV
And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: [13] And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. [14] And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. [15] And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, [16] And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. [17] And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? [18] There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. [19] And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
The fact that lepers were healed was a blessing to give thanks for but only one came back to give thanks.
How many times do we see God's blessing bestowed upon us daily yet we go our way and we enjoy those blessings without saying a simple thank you?
Why do we live like this? The answer is because we still have the old nature.
It's easy to be like the Israelites and expect blessings and God to take care of them whether they are good or bad and by the way he does that. Instead of being grateful they complained. They didn't like the food or their feet were tired or they had this or that that they needed to complain about. That's why in Psalm 107 the psalmist said over and over again... praise the Lord.... we must praise him and give him thanks.
