Fire Starter 6.21.22

Justin Baker • July 4, 2022

Good morning, our Fire-starter comes from 1 Chronicles 20. Our
Fire-starter thought is: what happens next when they come back for more?
Give them more.

Have you ever been forced into a fight?

Used to parents used to say that if I caught you starting a fight you
will get a whoopin but if I caught you not finishing a fight you didn’t
start you will get a whoopin.

Oftentimes we are known to start fights but then when someone tries  to
start a fight we like to coward back and not do nothing.

It ought to get on every Christians last nerves that Christ name has
been taken in vain. It ought to stir us up to fight back. You say
brother Justin how do we fight back? By saying I don’t like you using
God’s name in vain like that or I don’t like you cursing someone with
God’s name in it. His name is holy and reverend and his name ought not
to be taken in an unholy way or disrespectful way!!!

What do you do when someone comes for more? You fight back till they
finally figure out they are not going to win.

I understand this is the Philistines coming against Israel over an over
again and I do not want to take away from the text in any shape or form
but I want us to see it from this day and hour.

We are living in a day and hour where we may not be physically on the
field fighting but my friend we have a greater battle to fight and
that’s the spiritual battle.

What are some characteristics in fighting back?
a.) You can fight back sometimes with a closed mouth.
Letting the silence fight for you!!!!!
Has someone ever said something around you that should have not
been spoken? You didn’t say anything but just kept silence and they
ended up coming back and apologizing for what they did wrong.
    b.) Use your voice
We can always speak up and fight with our mouth.
We must speak up or we will be silenced more and more.
If you don’t speak up sometimes others will continue to speak against
our Savior but we must speak up because if they don’t see that you don’t
like that then they must realize they need to stop.

The reason the Israelites fought against the Philistines was because
they kept coming back to fight and they were known to defy the armies of
the Living God.
c.) Our actions can be shown to show what we are fighting for and
what we are against

Actions speak louder than words we have heard said very often.

If the Israelites kept saying well here comes the Philistines we need to
go fight them and never did guess what? They probably would have lost
the battle by sitting idly by and doing nothing but they did something
and won the victory.
Friend this morning when they come back for more don’t stand back, fight
back!!!!
Hope you have a great day!!!!

1 Chronicles 20:1-8 KJV
And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that
kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted
the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But
David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it. [2]
And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it
to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it
was set upon David’s head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil out
of the city. [3] And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut
them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt
David with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all
the people returned to Jerusalem. [4] And it came to pass after this,
that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time
Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, that was of the children of the
giant: and they were subdued. [5] And there was war again with the
Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of
Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver’s beam. [6] And
yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose
fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each
foot : and he also was the son of the giant. [7] But when he defied
Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David’s brother slew him. [8] These
were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David,
and by the hand of his servants.
