Yet Through The Scent Of Water

Justin Baker • October 21, 2022

We know tress die without water but they can come back to life with the scent of water. Let's look at this thought and ask God to speak to you.

Our Fire-starter thought is yest through the scent of water from Job 14.

Water is a great source. Everyone ought to drink at least eight cups of water per day if not more. Why? Because there is two things in this life you need to have to survive and that is one blood and two water. Without these two we would not be living today.

Water is an essential part to life in a plant and In a tree. A garden needs water, plants in your house need watering, trees as we have just mentioned needs water. Most importantly, the human being needs water, animals need water.

Please notice verses 7-9.

Job 14:7-9 KJV

For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. [8] Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; [9] Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.

He states there is hope for a tree if its cut down.

We are pictured as trees in the Bible Psalm 1 is a man that is blessed by God and he is pictured as a tree that is planted by the rivers of water. The Bible states about Samson in Judges 15 that he revived after having drank the water from jawbone of the ass.

Sometimes our tree gets cut down when pride takes place.

"When a man tells me he is not prideful I see that man full of pride."

Proverbs states Pride goeth before destruction.... I don't want God to have to destroy my tree if you will but if Christ has to the more I am surrounded by the Word of God "water" I will get the nutrients I need to grow again.

The scent is the smell of it. Let me remind us this morning that you can smell rain before it comes and it helps us.

Can you smell the scent if revival spiritually? What do I mean by this? I mean can you see revival happening in your life? Don't wait till the church has revival or the country has revival, you can revival today. It may take some watering and some Sonshine but It can happen. It may take you having to be cut down so you can grow more and more. I am reminded this morning that God purges us by getting the dead limbs and dead weight out of us and sometimes he gets the limbs that are too long and cuts them back to produce more and more fruit.

Let me ask you this morning are you glorifying the Father? How can you glorify him? John 15:8 states we can glorify Christ by bearing much fruit. What kind of fruit. The kind that is found in Galatians 5:22-23

How is your tree looking? Does it need the scent this morning? Do you need some water. Why not take a few minutes and read this morning's daily water to help you grow?

Job 14:1-22 KJV

Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. [2] He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. [3] And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee? [4] Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one. [5] Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; [6] Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day. [7] For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. [8] Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; [9] Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. [10] But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? [11] As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up: [12] So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. [13] O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! [14] If a man die, shall he live again ? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. [15] Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands. [16] For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin? [17] My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity. [18] And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place [19] The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man. [20] Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away. [21] His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them. [22] But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
