When They Can See Through Your Words And Remember Your Actions

Justin Baker • October 19, 2026

Our actions speak louder than our words. Here is a great example of that.

People do not care how much you know, they just want to know how much you care.

Notice our text verses:

Genesis 42:8-13 KJV
And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him. [9] And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. [10] And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come. [11] We are all one man's sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies. [12] And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. [13] And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.

Joseph has been in Egypt and God has given favor to Joseph in the eyes of Pharaoh and his servants.

We read how Joseph's brethren come to get food for them because of the famine. Joseph knows they but they do not know him.

Sadly, as we look at today's society we find liars, cheaters, deceivers, murderers and others in our world.

Many people can say the right things but their actions show differently.

We are living in a cover up society where many put on a front while their actions speak differently.

We find people who say they have changed but they have not changed one bit. You say, how do you know? Their lifestyle shows it.

People still cuss, drink, and do immoral stuff while they say the christian lingo, if you will.

Joseph knew his brethren but they did not know him.

We must be reminded God knows us. He knows the in's and the out's of us. He is the one that knows our hearts.

Jeremiah 17:9 states that our hearts are desperately wicked. It goes on to say who can know it?

The Lord is the one that knows you by heart. Joseph knew his brethren. He knew how they acted, the words they said and the action they did.

If i could use Joseph today as a picture of the Lord Jesus i would state that as Joseph knew his brethren, the Lord knows you.

They did not know Joseph. There are many people who claim they know the Lord but they do not.

People often say they know that God is a God of love and mercy but that's all they know about the Lord. There are so many things about the Lord that are great that if you were to put them all in a book, the books could not contain them all, yet there are so many people who say they know the Lord.

I wonder today, does your actions speak louder than your words or does your actions speak of your words? Even better do your words line up with your actions?
