When God Speaks, Its No Laughing Matter!
Laughing is a sign of disbelief and of distrust.
How often do we hear people say, I sure hope God doesn't have me do this or that? Or if the Lord tells them to do something they laugh and say I would not do that in a million years?
God told Abraham and Sarah they were going to have a son. (Genesis 18) here in chapter 21 God has given this Son to them.
Genesis 21:1-8
Gen 21:1 And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.
Gen 21:2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
Gen 21:3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
Gen 21:4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.
Gen 21:5 And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.
Gen 21:6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.
Gen 21:7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.
Gen 21:8 And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned.
We laugh and cut up when someone says to us you are going to do this or that or the other but when God says something it is no laughing matter.
He is the Creator of the universe, He is the God of Heaven and earth, He is King OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS, and he is the Father of all born again individuals.
Many laugh and mock what God says but one day they will not be laughing in his presence.
Yes, God gives joy and peace but there is still an reverence that is put in our hearts as we hear from the Father, Creator, Master, and King.
What you laugh about may be the very thing that God causes you to carry. (Sarah conceived)
What you laugh at will always be in front of you as a reminder to not laugh at God (Abraham and Sarah raised Isaac.)
Be careful laughing at God, His message and even His messenger.
God can do greater things than you will ever do and if He chooses to do something in a way that doesn't seem right remember God is the one in charge not us. He sees the end from the beginning. He knows the big picture. May God help us to accept what he says.
Never laugh at God!
