First notice our text for this morning.
Genesis 28:22 KJV
And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.


Tithing is a Biblical principle that needs to be taken in consideration.

Many view tithing as an old testament picture and it is but it is also something that we can learn from.

Romans 15:4 tells us that the things written of old were written for our learning, and as I have stated while preaching I will write here not everything was written to us but everything was written for our learning.

Giving the tithe is giving a tenth back to the Lord of what he has prospered us.

Many complain and say they do not have enough money to tithe on but little is much when God is in it as rhe songwriter said.

I heard of a story of an older preacher who gave 90% of his income to the Lord and lived off the 10%. The story states that he said he could live off the ten percent better than the ninety percent.

God wants our first. This is why the tithe is the first thing that should be given to the Lord because he wants our best.

I recently was reminded of a message I preached several years ago from Malachi 1 where God was dealing with the priest because they were offering unfit sacrifices to God and he said offer it to the governor.

God doesn't want our left overs, he wants our best.

Several things about tithing I would like to remind you this morning

1. The tithe is the Lord's
He has given the money to you and you are just giving back to God what is his

2. The tithe is 10% of all you receive
The tithe comes out not after you pay all your bills and payments but first

3. God blesses those who tithe
God makes things last longer, gives more than you can imagine.
