The Order Of The Home

Justin Baker • June 29, 2026

It seems to be in this day and hour that the home has become out of order. God has an order for the home and it must be the way God wants it for it to be blessed.

Today's reading comes from Genesis 35:1-7. As we look at the scripture i would like to bring out a couple of things.

Let me state that the order of the home is that
A.) The man is the head of the home!
B.) The wife is the weaker vessel but also the support of her husband!
C.) The children are under submission to their parents. (By the way, this does not stop when you are 18)
Ephesians 6:1 doesn't stop applying to you when you are 18!

The problem in this day in time is the wife is trying to run the home or the children are trying to run the home and the husband's are giving in to the wife and children's commands.

We would have revival in the home if we would just get back to Gods order from his Word!

Genesis 35:1-7 KJV
And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth–el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother. [2] Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: [3] And let us arise, and go up to Beth–el; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. [4] And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem. [5] And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob. [6] So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Beth–el, he and all the people that were with him. [7] And he built there an altar, and called the place El–beth–el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

Notice 5 things this morning that we find in this passage

1.) The command was given to the head of the house. Verse 1

Jacob received the word from God to where they should go.

2.) The command from the head of the home to the household. Versed 2-3

Jacob gave commandment to them to put away the strange gods and be clean.

The home will be as good as its leader is.

The church will only grow as much the pastor has grown. (Spiritually)

Jacob is walking with God and now Jacob is calling his family to get clean

We will continue this next week!
