The Inordinate Love

Justin Baker • December 1, 2024

Jerusalem had inordinate love towards Idols. What do you think would have happened if they had the same love toward Christ?

Notice our text verse for today:

Ezekiel 23:11 KJV

And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her inordinate love than she, and in her whoredoms more than her sister in her whoredoms.

The word inordinate means excessive, unrestrained

Many have inordinate love towards a lot of things. They have an inordinate love for their hobbies, for their spouses, for their children, but sadly, when it comes to Christ, he is their leftover love if you will.

When you study this chapter, you will find that they had inordinate love towards their idols and those around them just not for the God of Heaven.

This morning, my question to you is, is your love for God inordinate? Are you more passionate about the things of God than the things of this world?

In this day and hour, we have many that are ordinate in other things instead of Christ, and we must get our first love back as God warned the church at Ephesus in Revelation 2.

If you have ordinate love towards Christ, you would heed to his word, hear his command, and do his work for the glory of God.

May we have inordinate love towards Christ instead of things that don't last!
