The Blessing Of Being Set Apart From The World
Before Abraham could receive God's blessing, he had to separate from the man of the world.
Genesis 13:14-18 KJV
And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: [15] For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. [16] And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. [17] Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee. [18] Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
This concludes Genesis 13, and it is a great conclusion.
One thing we must realize before God can fully use a man he must separate himself fully from the world. Worldly minded people should cause a heavenly minded person to see his need to be the closest to God he can get.
It wasn't until after Abraham separated himself from Lot that God blessed him.
Separation is not preached much today due to how many churches are trying to look like the world to gain the world. They quote where Paul's said in 1 Corinthians 9:22 I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
They like to quote that, but that is not what Paul is saying. People should never act like the world to win the world because that will never happen.
There must be a separation. We have been called to be salt in this world. My sister has a problem with her body that she can't get enough salt, and I would watch her pour salt on her spaghetti oodles and other things because it wasn't salted enough.
Sadly, there are a lot of Christians who are not salted enough for the world to want more. There must be a difference.
The book of Leviticus deals with holiness, and we will look at that later, but to be holy is to be set apart, different.
Application: we need to be different from the world to receive the blessings from God.
