Poor Me, Poor Me!!!!
Sometimes we are like Jonah thinking more about ourselves than others. May we learn what not to do from Jonah.
Jonah has been an interesting character to study. He was a man who was called by God to go to Nineveh.
Nineveh was the capital of the Assyrian empire and was very wicked, yet the Lord wanted to extend salvation to them. Jonah now has preached in chapter 3, and even though Jonahs heart was not where it needed to be, God still used him to get a message to the people.
We have all heard the phrase. Poor me, Poor me! We like to make this known a lot of times when we don't get our way.
Jonah had the same attitude. He was expecting something that never happened.
Let me state a few things we can learn from Jonah
1. Be glad that God blesses someone else
Jonah was glad when the blessings came to him but was upset when God blessed and showed mercy to someone else
2. No matter how bad someone is, there is still mercy and grace. There is forgiveness! (2 Peter 3:9)
3. We must never have the attitude of Jonah. We must see how we were before God saved us, and if God saved us, he could save others.
Life application: it is so easy to be grateful for what we have, but are we grateful for how God is blessing others? We must be glad when God saves another soul. There is rejoicing in Heaven over one sinner that repents. We must celebrate the salvation of those as well.
Always be grateful for what you have and what others have
