No Names Who Did Great Things.
You don't have to be well known to do something for God
Oftentimes many think they are not useful if they are not noticed in what they do. That is not true, friend!
There are many instances in the Bible where people did great things and their names are not mentioned.
Several people I would like to bring out today.
First, think of the one that stood for what was right. (2 Samuel 11:3)
This individual was there when David fetched for Bathsheba. Everyone else in the room did not speak up and confront David, but this one did.
This person's name is not mentioned, but they did a great thing. By the way, there is a reward for those who stand for what is right.
2. The lad who was willing to give his lunch to Jesus. (John 6)
There is no name given to this lad, but what he did lives on. He was willing to give his five barley loaves and two small fishes so a multitude of people could eat.
He didn't make an agreement with the Lord saying I'll give you this in return for a great name. No! He was willing to give someone others could benefit.
Sadly, we are living in a ME society. If it doesn't involve me being acknowledged or someone bragging about me then I dont want to do it. This lad was willing to give all he had to the Savior.
Are you willing to be named with the no names?
3. The widow who gave two mites. (Mark 12:41-44)
She gave all she had, not all she could give.
Many say, I have one hundred dollars, I can give fifty of that. Friend, she gave all she had, not what she could give.
The Bible states that she gave more than any one there because she gave all she had.
This lady didn't have a name put to her story but her name will forever be the widow who gave all she had.
The last one I would like you to look at is found in John 4. There are others that I could share with you and may continue this next week but this is the one I would like to end with today.
4. The woman at the well (John 4:39)
Many people came to Christ because of her testimony.
Whether you leave a tract on a table or a door that was unanswered you still are doing a great thing for the Lord.
Remember your labor is not in vain.
You may be named with the unnamed but God knows what you do for him.
You may give a cup of cold water to someone. They may never know who you are but you can still remember what we do for Christ will not go unnoticed.
That is why I had you read 1 Corinthians 3 yesterday to be reminded of the gold silver and precious stones we are laying up when we do things and not get noticed down here for it.
