Mercy Was There When He Seemed Forgotten
Sometimes we feel as if we are forgotten but may I remind you today that you still have mercy.
Today we will cover the last of chapter 39 and chapter 40 together.
We understand that Joseph has been lied about his name has been slandered but I love what Genesis 39:21 states, But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy,....
Mercy there was great and grace was free is what the songwriter stated and I believe if Joseph had read that song back then from another writer I believe he would have said AMEN!
You see he was locked up in Jail probably feeling forgotten or all alone but mercy was there. Lamentations 3 tells us that his mercies are new every morning. In fact, the book of Psalms mentions his mercy endureth forever. 33 times that phrase is mentioned in Psalms.
When we feel alone, forgotten, and unworthy we can be reminded we have mercy. Wow, what a promise; what a reminder.
In Genesis 40 Jospeh has been placed in prison but even in there he has received mercy.
We will study this later but after two full years Joseph is finally remembered by the butler, but during the two years he has experienced mercy.
I believe Joseph could say with the songwriter, mercy there was great.
In the midst of your trials remember mercy. In the midst of the fiery furnace remember mercy. In the midst of disappointment, can you guess it? Yes! Remember mercy.
Psalm 89 states I will sing of the mercies of the Lord.... will you sin of his mercy? Will you share how merciful God has been?
Notice Psalm 118:1, 29
[1]O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. [29] O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Notice what Psalm 106:1 states, Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Friend his mercy endureth forever.
Today, lets be merciful because of the mercy we have received. You may feel forgotten, all alone, afraid of what's going to happen next but remember Mercy!
