It's Not Worth Lingering Over!

Justin Baker • December 8, 2025

They got Lot out of Sodom but sadly Sodom didn't leave Lot.

Genesis 19:16 KJV
And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Lot lingered in Sodom and didn't want to leave. As we looked at last week it was by the mercy of the Lord that he was delivered.

So many Christians are the same way. God has delivered them out of Judgment yet they continue in the sin and stay with it because it is in their heart to sin. Jeremiah 17:9 tells us that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.

Man will continue to look at the things that will make him successful in the realms of material but as John Phillips says, the fruit for God can not be obtained by natural means.

It takes the tillering of the Spirit of God and the good seed falling in the soft heart that God can water and it can bear forth fruit for God.

Sodom and Gommorrah may of had no Bible but they had a Lot that had some Bible.

If you have been in church for any period of time you probably have heard this story of Lot or have simply heard about Lot in general.

We read the story of Lot and we think that this man should be punished while we live in a lingering world ourselves.

We pass Judgment on one person while we ourselves do not want to be judged.

We must live a life of serving God rather than lingering in the world.

The reason Lot lingered in Sodom is because his love was in Sodom, his heart was there.

I want to ask you where are you lingering today? Are you lingering around the Bible, church, the songs that lift uo Jesus Or around the world, the flesh and all the devil has to offer?
