In His Stead.
There will be those who will come after us. May we do our best to leave a good heritage to follow.
Genesis 36:33 KJV
And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.
From verses 32 down to verse 39 you find the phrase in his stead.
Recently, there have been several people, either who I have known personally or been acquainted with, have died.
Someone once said, vehicles can be replaced but people can not. Which is true but I would like to bring forth to you today is you may not be able to be replaced but what you pass down can be replaced.
When a CEO of a company dies, someone takes the position. The position has been passed down. The CEO is no longer able to come back and take his position and there will never be someone just like him but someone will be CEO in his stead.
The characteristics of the CEO can be different than the first.
I was thinking of these that have passed away. One was a missionary, the other was a pastor. These men have had characteristics that others who come after them may not have.
Ive known preachers to die and the church vote someone in who is nothing like their former pastor.
I had a good friend of mine tell me when his pastor died they got another pastor in and he was told we've had forty years of so and so we are not going to have another forty.
In the book of 1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Chronicles. You find the kings listed and alot of them when they died their children took their place on the throne. They were not their father but the characteristics were either the same or worse.
I want to challenge you today the people on the job site, the bus worker, the pastor, and missionary. The ushers, deacons, and Sunday school teachers will die one day but what kind of people will take their place?
Will it be worldly, selfish people, or Godly, magnifying Jesus people?
May we leave behind for the next generation good characteristics so when they come in our stead they will live godly.
I was reading a book recently and one thing that was stated in the book is we are one generation from that generation becoming pagan. How true is that.
Lets leave behind for those who will be in our stead good characteristics to follow.
My pastor used to say that Character is Consistent.
Lets leave some character in for those in our stead.
