Every Home Needs An Altar. Do You Have One?
Abraham had an altar where he met God and worshipped him. Do you have a place?
Over the next couple of weeks, we will look at the life of Abraham and glean some things from his life that will either exhort us or even rebuke us of the life we are living.
Genesis 12:6-8 KJV
And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. [7] And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. [8] And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Beth–el, and pitched his tent, having Beth–el on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.
Have you sacrificed to the Lord today? Some will say yes, and some sadly will have to say no. Some have an idea what it means to sacrifice, and others have no idea because they have never done it.
How often do you spend at the altar of thanksgiving? This altar that Abraham had was an altar i believe of thanksgiving. He was praising the God who had appeared unto him.
Unlike many of us, Abraham spent time thanking God for all he had done. This is after God told him that He was going to give Abraham and to his seed the land.
We spend way too much time at the altar where sin is taking care of when we should be at the altar of thanksgiving and being willing to sacrifice things in our life in thankfulness to God for all he's done.
I wonder if you need to have an altar of Thanksgiving? Do you have a place where God has met some need and you built an altar and sacrificed some things in thanksgiving?
Sadly, there are many who do not care to give thanks to God for all he's done for them. They are all about God doing things for them, but how about we in gratefulness do things for Christ?
Thank you for reading today's Fire-starter devotional. If it was a blessing to you, please share it with others. Also, please send your prayer request to Justin@rtfministries.net by tomorrow evening
