Even The Fish Listen!
Animals were created for pleasure, but they must also listen to the Master.
Jonah 2:10 KJV
And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
We have several dogs at the house. Four are on the inside; two are adult dogs, and two are puppies.
All our dogs know their name very well. Sparky, willow, molly, and last but not least, skip.
Each dog listens to their name being called. Although when I call Skip for some reason, Sparky thinks he is being called and runs over.
My point in telling you this is that the dog listens to what it's being told. They have learned the word NO!
Doesn't it amaze you that even the great fish listened to the God of Heaven, but the prophet wants to flee from the call of God on his life.
There are several animals in the Bible that God used, but this one listened to the speaking Master.
We know God spoke through Baalims donkey
We know God spoke through a rooster to Peter. But these were God speaking through them but notice that the God of Heaven spake to the great fish and it listened.
Some of us need to take some notes from the great fish this morning. What are some lessons to be learned here?
Well, I would say first of all that we should never run away from the Lord and the work he has called us to do.
Had Jonah went when he was called, you would have never heard of the great fish.
Secondly, God prepares things to get our attention when we fail to do his will.
God may use tragedy, heartache, and even a financial burden to get our attention. For Jonah, it was a great fish. What will it be for you?
Lastly, the fish listened on the first round
We could learn a lot from the fish. May we be reminded from the fish that:
A. God has a work for you
God prepared the fish
B. We must listen to his command
The Lord spake unto the fish
C. The fish was submissive to the call
The fish did exactly what God told it to do.
Life application:
Each of us has to make a decision of one of two choices
We can either be like Jonah the o n e who didn't listen, or we could be like the great fish that not only listened but also obeyed.
What will your choice be?
