So many questions wandered through my mind yesterday as I visited the Moody center. The Pastor of the Church I am preaching for took me to this place and the thought came to me as I am sure it will come to you, What was it like in the old days? I want to go back to those days! Are you sure you want to go back to those days? 

Our Fire-starter thought this morning is? Are you ready to go back to the old days?



What would the old days consist of? 

1. No Tv 2. No internet 3. No Air Condition 4. Modesty ( by the way, this is not just for the Ladies, Men can be immodest as well) 5. A love for God's word 

Would you like for me to continue? 

For the sake of time I won't but think about this. Most people can not put their cell phone down for a few minutes to spend a good meal with their family. I am guilty this morning, and the fact is we say we want to go back to the old days. 

We want to go back to the old days where God showed up in a mighty way but we do not want to do what they did to get to that place. How did they do it? Long prayer meetings with just them and God. They didn't call for a church wide prayer meeting. They didn't call so and so and let them know that they were going to be praying at this date and time. You say, Brother Justin, are you against church wide prayer meetings? No but I am not happy with the Christian that simply waits for a church wide meeting to pray. 

We may want to go back to the old days but we do not want to live in the old days!!!!

We want our TV, We want our internet, We want our Air condition, We want our little sermon that does not move us to our knees!

What we do not want is someone to preach against sin, someone to tell others they are going to Hell. A couple of years ago I had the privilege of going street preaching and we had a great time till the owner of the place kicked us out but long story short, one of the preachers was preaching about the dangers of Hell and while he was preaching we were giving tracts out and I will never forget the parent that came back to us and stated we shouldn't be preaching that because that was scaring her daughter. If it's like today's culture they do not want to hear about Hell or anything like that. 

Yes we want to Go back to the old days but we do not want to live a separated life. 

See these men of God did what they had to to stay clean before him. You say, Brother Justin, it was easy for them to live like that because they didn't have any of the stuff mentioned above to hinder them. I totally understand. But the problem is not the things it's us that uses these things remember that!!! You do not have to eat with your cell phone at the table, you do not have to be on the internet all the time, you can spend time in God's Word!!! I have to work, I have things to do. So many come up with excuses!!! 

All I am saying this morning is if we truly are ready to go back to the old days then we must be willing to do what it takes to be back where the power of God is.
