Are You Giving After Your Ability?

Justin Baker • August 25, 2022

Don't talk about Finances preacher, we can give only so much!!!

My question to you is are you giving after your ability?

You can read our Fire-starter text in Ezra 2. Mainly verse 69. Notice this verse!!!

Ezra 2:69 KJV

They gave after their ability unto the treasure of the work threescore and one thousand drams of gold, and five thousand pound of silver, and one hundred priests' garments.

We hate it when the preacher talks about giving, and then giving again and then giving again.

One thing is for certain the children of God must be a giving people.

We may not be able to give treasures but what about time? What about talents?

Some have the ability to give time but yet they don't. Some have the ability to give God their talents but yet they keep it it themselves.

Some are more than able to give of their treasures but they have more ways they could spend that money

Your time talents and treasures are a valuable thing yet we think it is a back burner subject.

Why does a preacher bring someone in to preach almost every month? Probably because he knows his people are a giving after their ability people.

Why does the Pastor stresses choir members are needed or those that have time on their hands to come help with things? Because he knows that they have the ability to do these things.

I had someone call me one time and ask me to do something and I asked why did you call me and not someone else? Here was the answer, because I know you could and would do it. I don't say that pridefully but I do want to ask you are you giving after your ability?

This is something that we must all consider. If you look at the things you are giving are you giving less than what you are able to do.

Time on your hands? Why don't you pray for that soulwinner that is telling people about Jesus.

How about pray for the lost that will hear the gospel to be receptive.

More importantly, why don't you pick up the phone and call someone or go by and talk to them In person about Christ.

Why don't you help make sure the church is ready to go for the Sunday services or Wednesday prayer meeting. Giving after your ability.

Choir member are you giving after your ability?

Are you able to do more like help with getting music in notebooks or even buy the music for the choir?

Sunday school teacher are you giving after your ability?

How much time do you spend with your Sunday school class?

How much money do you spend on your Sunday school class?

Are you giving all your talent teaching your Sunday school class?

Pastors, Evangelist, lay preachers, young preachers, retired preachers, are you giving after your ability?

See they gave after their ability to the treasure of the work, but how about you friend? How is your time, talents and treasures looking?

Have a great day giving after your ability.
