Allowing God To Make Your Name Great.
In the previous chapter, we learned how they wanted to make a name for themselves, but here we will learn that God will make your name greater.
Genesis 12:2 KJV
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Many times, we are like those at the tower of Babel, seeking a name for ourselves, when we should allow our Heavenly Father to promote us.
Abraham has not asked God to promote him or give him a great name, but rather, the God of Heaven made his name great.
Your name identifies who you belong to. People associate your character with your name. How you act, talk, and live.
God can make your name great, and please remember that when he makes your name great that he does it and not you.
You and I are not capable of having a great name due to our defilement, but let his name be exalted, and you will find yourself humbled that he would let you magnify his name.
My name was marred, his name is Majesty. My name is not great his name is the greatest. Let me tell you about the name above all names. Jesus
The Bible tells us that we should not lift ourselves up but rather humble ourselves, and he would lift us up.
When we make much of Jesus, Jesus will make much of us!
Not that we will get the glory, but rather, we will find ourselves doing more for him.
Are you lifting him up?
The Bible tells us that Jesus humbled himself and became obedient unto death Phil 2:5-11. And because of that, God the Father exalted him and gave him a name which is above every name. God's way up is down! And vice versa. You exalted yourself, and you will find yourself being humbled. You humble yourself, and you will find yourself being exalted, doing more to magnify him.
When someone does a great job at a restaurant, you take note of it. How about when we do things for God? Do you think he takes note of it?
